Cytokines and growth factors level in vestibular schwannoma patients
Abstract
Serum concentration changes of transforming growth factor β1, vascular endothelial growth factor, immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin M and carcinoembryonic antigen were studied in patients with different stages of vestibular schwannoma. The obtained data suggested: for all the tumor stages analyzed, the serum levels of VEGF and TGF-1β were significantly higher compared to the reference or control values. Specifically, the values of VEGF in the blood serum exceeded 8.72 times the control values (p < 0.01), and the TGF-1β was 1.52 times higher compared to the control values. The serum concentrations of IgA and IgM showed statistically significant changes (p < 0.01) in all groups of patients with different tumor stage compared to the control group.
